LANTERN MAKING (all locations)
Don't be left lantern-less! Artists from the Secret Lantern Society will help you make your own beautiful lantern. New this year is the opportunity to build a lantern in the shape of your own house! All basic materials are provided and participants are encouraged to bring pressed leaves, flowers or other decorative elements. Price is per lantern. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Communal Lantern Project
Artists from the Secret Lantern Society invite you to join
them in the creation of a giant lantern sculpture - the Tree
of Life. This community-built lantern gets larger every
year, reflecting the many people who have contributed
their energy. Be part of the magic and gain experience in
this hands-on, larger-than-life project taking place every
day during the weeks leading up to the winter solstice.

Rhythm, one of the most universal forms of communication, is the perfect way to bring the community together in the dark of winter. The first hour of these workshops will focus on teaching simple rhythms for beginner and intermediate levels, and the last half-hour will be a drumming circle for all levels. Participants are encouraged to help lead the lantern procession on the night of the Solstice Festival.
